Hélio Smidt Highway
The Hélio Smidt Highway (SP-019), with a length of 2.4 kilometers (under DERSA jurisdiction), was opened in January 1985 to connect the Ayrton Senna Highway and the Guarulhos International Airport, including an intersection with the BR-116, the Rodovia Presidente Dutra (Presidente Dutra Highway).
It is a divided highway separated by a median strip, with two lanes in each direction. Its name is a tribute to Varig’s former president, Helio Smidt, who passed away in April, 1990. Its management is shared by the Ecopistas and the GRU Airport concessionaires.
