DERSA’s Expropriation and Social Programs has a group of social assistants, researchers and professionals, among whom engineers, architects and trainees, that visit the families living in the project’s area to identify their living conditions.
During the works of the Nova Tamoios, the families living in the project surroundings received support through the Programa de Compensação Social e de Reassentamento Involutário (Social Compensation and Involuntary Resettlement Program) and Programa de Apoio Social e de Desenvolvimento Comunitário (Social Support and Community Development Program).
SUPPORT AND SERVICES
Community-oriented citizenship initiatives comprising the providing of free health, beauty and entertainment services, in addition to social assistance and legal services, are organized on a periodical basis.
Quality Of Life
Community marriages, professional qualification courses and actions and journeys to citizenship are some of the initiatives carried out by the Company’s Social Management area.
All resettled families that opted for a housing unit receive a monthly housing allowance from DERSA to cover their rental expenses until they can move to the new housing units, when completed.
As soon as the families are resettled, children enrolled in the schools in the surroundings of the works are immediately transferred to schools in the new locations so that they can continue to progress in their studies. Families that needed specific support were also resettled.
COURSES AND SPEECHES
Through Via Rápida Emprego (Employment Fast Track Program), São Paulo State Government Employment Program that offers basic professional qualification courses, residents living in the works surroundings participated in qualification courses and speeches about the job marketplace and general technical knowledge
ENTERPRENEURSHIP AND FORMALIZATION
The Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (SEBRAE) organized speeches for the region’s retailers and made a mobile vehicle available to solve doubts and formalize retail operations.
The PROCON Foundation delivered four presentations about Financial Education and Citizenship. The Caixa Econômica Federal (Federal Savings Bank) organized a speech about Financial Education and Management.
Promoted by the State Department of Employment and Work Relations, the Programa Pró-Egresso (Post Release Program) is focused on resocializing former inmates and their families, as well offenders on probation. Through the partnership with the state department, former inmates participated in the Nova Tamoios works.
WORK AND INCOME
Hundreds of residents living in the region were hired to work in the Nova Tamoios project. To make their hiring feasible, CVs were collected in Plantões Sociais (Social Standbys).
