In addition to the expertise in the road engineering sector, DERSA has been responsible for managing eight Travessias Litorâneas (Ferry Crossings) in the State of São Paulo since 1989. The Company is recognized for developing and increasing the operating capacity of the system.

In 2011, DERSA implemented the Programa de Modernização das Travessias Litorâneas (Ferry Crossing Modernization Program), which has received, until 2015, investments of BRL 263 million from the State Government, the largest amount since the implementation of São Paulo’s first Ferry Crossing. Among other improvements, the Company replaced old ferries by modern and largest ones, restored existing ferries, replaced engines and navigation equipment, and implemented computerized traffic control systems, in addition to restoring and expanding the moorings.
